Being more creative makes better business sense.

Creative activities tap into the brain’s natural capacity for big picture and expansive thinking. Drawing, collage, metaphor and even playing with LEGO® are tools that help people to use their creativity to solve problems.

How? Everyone lets their guard down as they focus on creating and making their solution or idea. Consequently, everyone in the room starts participating and contributing to how they can drive the business forward, work better together as a team, and create improved solutions for your customer.

What is LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®?

LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) is a powerful tool used in workshops offered by Inner Creative. It is a unique way to help people use their creativity to solve problems, discover new perspectives, and share ideas.

But isn’t LEGO® for kids? No it’s for adults too! Using LEGO® and the LSP method is a fun and engaging way to get everyone participating, expressing their ideas, and finding collaborative solutions. LSP’s format is especially good for visual thinkers or people who like to get ‘hands on’ when problem solving. Even NASA have used it to build new teams and strengthen their communication across departments.

Natalia brings together over 20 years of strategic planning experience, workshop facilitation and creativity training. She is an expert facilitator at helping people tap into their creative genius and build solutions together.

Natalia is an accredited LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator. She is experienced in how best to guide workshop participants through a methodology of building LEGO® models in response to a pre-determined topic or question all the way through to closing the process with shared group solutions or set of recommendations.

The aim is not about building the best or fanciest model. You won’t be judged like on the LEGO® Masters Australian TV Series :-). It’s about using your imagination to build something that you can use to tell a story through symbols and metaphors (and don’t worry Natalia will take you through the certified process to enable you to do just that 🙂 ). Here’s an example of what Natalia has built with LEGO® to illustrate some of her strengths and expertise.

Through Inner Creative, Natalia has worked with various clients ranging from local government, not-for-profit community groups, and business, including Manningham City Council and City of Boroondara (as a sub-contractor), ADM Systems, Stonnington Toy Library, and LightFM community radio station. She’s also presented about LEGO® Serious Play at conferences, such as the Australasian Association of Professional Organisers, as well as using it with private clients in 1on1 accountability sessions.

LEGO® Serious Play is a powerful addition to Natalia’s facilitation, problem solving and creativity expertise. This is what Natalia has to say about what she’s learnt from her experience:

I absolutely believe in the power of using LEGO® Serious Play in bringing people together and helping them share valuable insights and wisdom. I’ve seen this demonstrated time and time again:
Team members having fun and opening up to each other, sharing what they love about their work and giving positive feedback to their team mates.

Individuals who downplayed their work role at the start of the workshop, and then becoming pleasantly surprised to hear how others in their team really appreciate what they do.

Even when individuals don’t know each other very well to begin with, this process gives them a shared experience and helps them to find commonalities. I’ve seen people come into the room with a strong personal agenda and be able to find consensus or at least show that they’ve understood and respect another person’s point of view.

I love how using LEGO® bridges all ages, genders and cultures. No one has ever told me that they couldn’t make something out of LEGO® or be unable to participate in the process. The Serious Play approach counters anyone’s shyness because the focus is on building with LEGO® and sharing what they’ve built. All eyes are on the model. Not on the person speaking. I see people relax and let their guard down. There’s more openness and less defensiveness because the model is the subject of discussion and external to the individual.

I’m so passionate about how LEGO® Serious Play can help us tap into our own inner wisdom, express our ideas and learn about others’ perspectives too.

Don’t just take Natalia’s word for it.

Effective team building is not a ‘one and done’ type deal.

That’s why Natalia offers more than just the face-to-face LEGO® workshop to her clients. As a minimum add on to your team’s workshop, you get a team building experience that includes:

  • a pre-workshop client meeting to ensure your LEGO® workshop is tailored and responsive to your team’s current needs and dynamics, as well as
  • an online team manager post-workshop debrief, where we’ll discuss the workshop outcomes and team feedback. Natalia will provide you with some practical activities that you can do back in the office to build on the workshop’s discussion and momentum.

You also have an option to add-on an Insight Boost workshop to further embed your team’s learning and insights.

The Insight Boost Workshop is 4-6 weeks after your initial workshop and creates greater accountability for action-taking after the initial team building workshop. You’ll have an opportunity to assess team metrics, reflect on how the team dynamics and performance have changed, and enhance any subsequent improvements.
