How to create a vision board that works

Have you heard of making a vision board before?
Inner Creative Blog - How to create a vision board that works - innercreative.com.au
If you’re looking for instructions on how to create a vision board where you slap a picture of a car onto a piece of paper, hang it onto your wall, and then cross your fingers that this car will magically drive into your driveway the next day, then this this blog is not for you.

On the other hand, read on if you’re interested in learning how you can use magazine images and collage to tap into your creativity and intuition to create a vision for your life or business that helps you:
  • claim what you want from life or business

  • smile and make your heart sing
  • fuel your motivation and remind you of where you want to go.

So what has all of this number stuff got to do with creativity? And no, it has nothing to do with creative accounting :-).

I really enjoyed talking to Fay because she links numbers, money and creativity with being spiritual, empowered and on purpose. I was also in awe of the importance that Fay places on being aligned and grounded in relation to her creativity and how she works. Her creative practices may appear simple, but they are consistent with what research is discovering about the creative process*, and are helping Fay achieve consistent and great results for her business and clients.

So please read Fay’s candid and inspiring interview to find out, amongst other things, about:

  • the chore that she started in primary school that built the foundations for her current business
  • the turning point that made Fay re-evaluate her childhood beliefs and give up her corporate job to take a leap of faith towards where she is now
  • how Fay models self-awareness in juggling work and being a Mum to her pre-schooler
  • what washing dishes and other mundane chores have to do with fostering Fay’s creativity

Each month I will interview people to find out how they express and nurture their creativity, as well as how they make room for it with everything else that’s going on in their lives. I’m also interested in learning about how they approach the business side of things if they have one.

So please, allow me to introduce you to…

The Creative Life of Thanuja Gunatillake.

Having the right mindset for creativity

The act of creation is not just a physical activity. The mindset and attitudes that you bring to the task play a big role in your creativity. As I have said before, you are more likely to be creative when you are feeling joyful, focused and relaxed, as opposed to when you are feeling tired, anxious, and stuck.

Inner Creative Blog on Having the Right Mindset for Creativity - innercreative.com.au

When I run a creativity class it is my duty to create a safe environment, not only physically, but where everyone feels free to explore different ideas, try new things, and express themselves. So in my class introduction, I set the tone by asking participants to keep some principles back of mind as they do the class activities. Continue reading

What was the Mandala Play Adventure about?

In early April 2015, I went on a Play Adventure where each day for 30 days I ‘coloured in’ a mandala colouring page (that I had previously created).

Here are all thirty designs that I created out of that one mandala colouring page. I even surprised myself by how many different and unique results I could create out of such a seemingly simple outline.

This Play Adventure was rewarding in so many ways. I introduced more play and fun into my day. I got to express myself creatively. I learnt more about the creative process and what worked for me. It also got me thinking about creative inspiration, taking risks and how ideas can flow. I learnt so much!
I captured my learning in the following blogs each week:
